I’m happy to be a new member of the community! I’m looking to enhance my enjoyment of life through my CDs and streamed music. My musical interests include 70s soft rock and prog rock (nothing too heavy). Artists I enjoy are Alan Parsons, CCR, Moody Blues, 10CC, Dire Straits, The Beatles, Eagles, CSNY, and similar genres, along with classical instrumentals, blues, and jazz.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
– Good build quality and durability.
– I find it frustrating to pay for poor quality. I grew up in an era where products were expected to last for decades. At 71 years old, decades might be a bit optimistic, lol.
– A natural, mostly neutral sound that isn’t too bass-heavy or treble-dominant (screaming babies feel like knives in my head). I likely have some hearing loss in the higher frequencies.
– Good separation, imaging, and detail. A slightly wider soundstage would be a bonus.
– Easy to drive, preferably without the need for an amplifier, though I’m open to it if necessary.
– Comfortable for extended listening sessions. I’m fine with either open or closed-back designs.
– Reasonably priced. I am retired and on a fixed income, so I don’t have a lot of money to spend. However, I’m willing to pay for quality that will last.
Here are the models I’m currently considering:
– Hifiman Edition XS
– Sennheiser HD 560S
– Hifiman Sundara OB
– FiiO FT-1 Pro
– Adam H200
– Sennheiser HD6XX
